It’s been five years since Dredd dealt with the scum of Mega City One in a version of the raid that managed to pad its run time with a gratuitous use of the slo-mo button and while it managed to finally find a home on DVD it doesn’t look like he’ll be riding again. But wait as J.J returns to Star Trek with the brilliant idea of bringing back his dead dad in order to cash in on ‘The Avengers’ fame and rehash Kirk’s daddy issues again could we maybe see Karl Urban don the helmet once more for…………………
Okay so little beyond that poster, you’ve just seen, has been announced yet and yes that means that Karl hasn’t signed back on for another tour of duty though it’s not beyond the realm of possibility. Despite being a big movie star he’s done t.v work before and fairly recently too in the short lived Dredd prequel ‘Almost Human’. Both IM Global and Rebellion are still in charge from the last fly by of ‘Mega City One’ and the fan campaigns were noticed according to producers Jason and Chris Kingsley.
Now this is still in early development so we probably shouldn’t get to hyped over it just yet. I mean Star Trek currently has two networks attached and there’s no guarantee that that will ever actually come out so we may never see this police procedural ” set in a future where the East Coast of the U.S. has become a crowded and crime-ridden megalopolis. The plan is to make the series an ensemble drama about a team of Judges — futuristic cops invested with the power to be judge, jury, and executioner — as they deal with the challenges the future-shocked 22nd century throws at them.” -EW
But still it looks like Karl might finally get his wish.
