What is wrong with disliking ‘The Last Jedi’?

Standard

There’s something I’ve noticed in nerd circles for a small while now. See we’re coming out of our Mum’s basements and some are even showering. We’re having to in order to see the new Marvel and Star Wars movies and in order to get close enough to get a picture of that smexy cosplayer so that we can put that picture on our facebook later and claim we made out with them. The other thing we’re learning in all this is to be nice. Just because someone hasn’t read all the comics we’re learning to let them in the theatre and even have the good seats if they’ve paid for them. I like to think that part of the reason for this is my “award winning” post on letting the newbs bring money and attention into our fandom so that we can get more cool stuff. The problem is that I worry we’re becoming too nice.

What is wrong with ‘a female Doctor’? (if your name is Steven Moffat)

Standard

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months you will be aware that the Doctor is going to regenerate soon and in doing so “he” will gain a set of etheric beam locators. This isn’t going to be a post about whether this is good or bad just about the guy who put the bullet in the gun, placed an apple on little Timmy’s head and said to the local children “bet you can’t hit that apple” before running and hiding in his office to play with his action figures…………………

What is wrong with ‘Tom Holland’s Spiderman’?

Standard

I saw the new Spiderman last night and I can see why people are raving about Michael Keaton’s portrayal of an flying creature based comic book character. Slightly less so Tom Holland’s version of old web head himself. Now don’t get me wrong he’s probably the best one yet. Toby could do a decent Peter but failed when it came to Spiderman, while Andrew Could pull off the web slinger but was a miserable Parker. Tom is truly the guy who can do both. But if there’s one thing I’ve figured out is that you don’t get anywhere by being nice on the internet. Thus this is what’s wrong with…………..

What will be wrong with ‘Star Trek 14’?

Standard

Right now we don’t know a whole lot about ‘Star Trek: Untitled’, the “soon” to be forth film in the kelvin timeline and fourteenth Star Trek film all together. So why then is the most popular theory atm being that it will end the nuTrek timeline and more importantly why are they wrong. This is what I think we’re going to see in …………..

What is wrong with ‘The Handmaids tale’? Or how feminist literature got outsmarted by a bunch of damned dirty apes.

Standard

Before Hulu can get the ball rolling on their own classic, speculative sci-fi and market their own book to telly series for those after a bit more than blood and tits I thought I’d put forward my own thoughts on where their story goes wrong. No I haven’t seen the show, yes I am going off the book so yes chances are this may be full of spoilers but no it shouldn’t affect anything major in ……………….

What’s wrong with ‘X-men: Blue’ Issue 1?

Standard

You may think you’ve read that title wrong or I’m under some misapprehension and that this should be another complaint about the racist artwork snuck into yesterdays X-men: Gold. But I read that book and didn’t even notice it so clearly I’m not the guy for that task so instead I shall stick with what I know and complain about………………….

What is wrong with ‘Marvels Legacy Heroes’?

Standard

Originally posted on Feb 18th 2017

I’ve had this post brewing in my brain for a while now but it’s the announcement of Marvels latest super, mega, world changing, crossover ‘Generations’ that has given me enough impotence to write it down. I like Legacy heroes I really do, I love the Flash and Blue Beetle, Robin and the Atom. I even like Nova, some of the time.

So the question is why have Marvel been getting it so wrong?
